The miser scotch

A csotsman was on a visit to America .He was not very happy to find that life there was much more expensive than at home .One day he left ill and thought he ought to ask a doctor for advice .He asked an American acquaintance if he could recommend a doctor whose fees were not too high .He told him that Dr Thomas chared five dollars for a patient's first visit .but only one dollar for each further visit for the same complaint .
The scotsman went to DR Thomas and said "good morning doctor .here i'm again" staring at his new patient .the doctor said he did not remember seeing him before .But the scotan told that he visited him last week .Dr Tomas said he must have forgotten and asked if there was any improvement .The scotman said"no,i do not think so doctor.I do not feel at all well this morning".iN THIS CASE ?SAID THE DOCTOR ?JUSTcontinue with the same prescription and come and see me again next week .That will be one dollar,please,good-bye".

THe sacred tree

In the nineteenth century .Mugo Libiru .a famous prophet of the Kikuyu tribe .foretold that a fig tree at Thika .twenty-six miles north of nairobi .would wither and die on the day Kenya gained independence.Kibiru also prophesied that Kenya would become a white man's colony .but that one day the white man would return the land to the Africans.He foresaw the coming of the railway which he descibed as "an iron snake with many legs" like an earthworm .Kibiru 's prophecies proved to be so accurate that for many years the tree at Thika was regarded as sacred .Even the white men took the prophecy seriously .for they built the tree up with earth and put a concrete wall around it so that it would not fall .These measures were domed to fail .Shortly before Kenya gained independence.the tree was struch by lightning and began to witer rapidly .By the day Kenya officially became independence .it had decayed conpletely .fulfilling the prophecy made over seventy years before by Kibiru.

God's mercy

It was two after midnight and the expressnight train was at full speed.Near one of the opened windows,a middle aged mother carrying her baby on her arms ,was lookingout.At an acute bend on the railway,thetrain made a sudden ,jerk and the ladyb, all of sudden,found her baby flying off her arms .Her loud shrieks were of no use ,the train could not be stopped .

When the train stopped at the next station ,the lady ,still crying , told the station master what had happened .The station authorities at once sent a search party to find the dead body of the baby , But when they arrived on the scene , they were surprised to see the baby sitting on the morning wet grass as if someone had seated it there to play .
